概要

世界的に有名なMediaWikiによるWikiサイトのWikipediaがMastodonに参加したとの情報があったので紹介します。

実際の運営者は「Taavi Väänänen (@taavi@wikis.world) – Wikis World」と「Kunal Mehta (@legoktm@wikis.world) – Wikis World」で、2022-10-12が登録日、おそらくサイトの開始日です。

サーバー自体は、関係者のみの招待制になっています。

どういう経緯で参加したのか、前後の文脈がよくわかっていませんが、以前紹介した「The Linux FoundationのMastodonサーバーsocial.lfx.dev | GNU social JP」や「Linux著者Linus Torvaldsの分散SNSへの参加 | GNU social JP」のように、サーバーを試験運営していて、十分検証できたから招待したのかもしれません。後は、後述するTwitterでの報道機関へのラベル付けへの懸念もあったのかもしれません。

4月に入って、TwitterがVerified Organizationの一環で、NPRなどメディアのアカウントにラベル付けを行いだしたことを受けて、Twitterの廃止、Mastodonへの参加が複数あり、TwitterのMastodon公式アカウントが紹介していました。

2023-04-10にNPRが出した声明と同じように、企業による報道機関のラベル付けを見直すべきだと問うていました。
