2023-02-09の以下の投稿で、3か月後の2023-05-09に終了すると告知されました。

運営者のNathanに対して、ナチス、TERF、反ユダヤ主義者などの差別者とみなす批判、人格攻撃を受けて、嫌気がさしてしまったようです。

こちらの投稿にある通り、おそらく人格攻撃の大量のメンション通知があるようで、通知を確認しないと宣言しました。
Nathanの過去の投稿を軽く探ったくらいだと、これ以上の情報がなく、終了の経緯がいまいち不透明でした。
mastodon.lolは2020-06-04開始のサーバーで、登録者数76229人、月間アクティブユーザー数17609人で、登録者・MAUの両方でMastodon全体の上位20位以内のメガサーバーでした。
推測
メガサーバーの詳細不明の突然の閉鎖予告ということで、いくつか経緯の憶測がなされていました。
