「The Roundup – episode 20 – The Fediverse Report」で、フォーラム型の新興の ActivityPub実装としてKbinというソフトが紹介されていたので記録目的で紹介します。
Kbin (Home | kbin.pub – Fediverse of content) はredditに似たフォーラム・掲示板型のソフトウェアです。メインの公開サーバーはkbin.socialです。既に存在しているフォーラム型の ActivityPub実装のLemmyとも統合できるそうです。
Kbinは現在積極的に開 発中で、magazinesの ような独自の拡張機能も備えています。Kbinの他に、他にActivityPub対応を進めているフォーラム型のソフトがあります。 Flarum/nodeBB/Discourseです。まだActivityPub対応の開発の初期段階です。

There are now 3 #forum softwares that are implementing federation: #Flarum, #nodeBB and #Discourse (via The Pavilion).
I sincerely hope that we do not get 3 incompatible federated apps, and would like to point out once more to the #Fediverse Enhancement Proposals process process (the #FEP) as a means to align #ActivityPub implementations.
2ちゃんねるのように、このような掲示板・フォーラム型のSNSは昔からあって、歴史の長いSNSです。ActivityPubが普及すること で、こうした昔ながらのソフトウェアも対応することで、他のソフトウェアと連合して参加できます。
GNU socialもですが、誕生時期の時間を超えて、新旧のソフトが連携できることがなんとなく感動的に感じます。今後はこういう動きが増えるのかもしれませ ん。
